The whole course of things goes to teach us faith.
These words from Ralph Waldo Emerson inspired my poem.
But, where shall I put my faith ?
In God, in Love, in my therapist-
Where shall I put my faith?
In that which I cannot yet see?
I thought I had left faith behind.
But I find I need it still.
The road is dark. I walk alone.
Faith in self is insufficient.
Faith in others disappoints.
Where shall I put my faith?
Oh, those well-lit transcendentalists
counting on nature for healing joy-
God bless them.
But in our broken, wounded world
where shall I put my faith?
In the whole course of things,
we learn, faith is required.
But,
Where shall I put my faith?
Tell me Waldo, where?
